Atículo publicado en: Invest Clin 52(4): 356 - 360, 2011 Se presentan 4 casos de actinomicosis pulmonar en pacientes mayores de 55 años, 2 de ellos con enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC), que mostraron un aumento de la tos productiva, episodios de disnea, hemoptisis y fiebre de larga evolución. En las radiografías de tórax de rutina se observaban imágenes segmentarias de consolidación aérea, sugestivas de cuadros neumónicos no resueltos o neoplasia. Cervico-Facial Actinomycosis: Epidemiological and clinical comments

In a retrospective investigation performed in the department of Surgical Odontostomatology of Palermo University Polyclinic from 1997-2006, the authors examined 12 cases of cervico-facial actinomycosis, taking into consideration age range, gender distribution, predisposing factors and symptoms. In concordance with reports in literature, they found that the disease was perimandibular in 65%, they also report the diagnostic methods and therapeutic approaches used in the study

Actinomycosis is a bacterial infection due to Gram positive bacteria of Actinomyces genus. Actinomyces israelii is the most common in human infection.The authors described a case occurred in a 43 aged woman with a clinical presentation of a right submandibular indurative mass.After surgery, histological examination showed a granulomatous tissue with many actinomycetes. Patient was submitted to treatment with i.v penicillin. On the 11th day antibiotic therapy was replaced with ceftriaxone and teicoplanina.
